- עֲרִיפָהf. (עָרַף) breaking the neck (of the heifer, Deut. 21:4), use of the stem ערף. Meg.II, 5 לעֲרִיפַת העגלה for the ceremony of Y.Sot.IX, 23c בע׳ as regards the ceremony of Ib. d bot. מקום עֲרִיפָתָהּוכ׳ the place where a heifer has been killed; a. fr.Sifré Deut. 306 (ref. to יערף, Deut. 32:2) אין ע׳ אלא הריגה the verb ʿaraf means to kill; Yalk. ib. 942.
